About my site
My name is Mary LaVigne. I hope that my website will help you to support your child throughout first grade.
First grade is an important building block for your child’s entire education. It is vital that children are in school on time every day unless they are ill. We work hard all day, and your child will be expected to put forth full effort. All children are also expected to be on their best behavior so the other children in the class also have the greatest opportunity to learn.
Reading is our biggest focus in first grade. Most of our children come into first grade already reading. Our goal is to help them to read with greater fluency and have a greater understanding of what they read.
In math, our biggest focus is the addition and subtraction facts. At the beginning of first grade we work on how to get the answers. By the end of first grade we want to have most of the math facts memorized. Keep practicing!
